Developing reference standards for electrodiagnostic studies with measurement uncertainty quantification.


Overview

Clinical electrodiagnostic testing relies on reference standards to differentiate normal from abnormal nerve function. However, traditional reference values rarely account for measurement uncertainty — the inherent variability in diagnostic testing. Our lab develops national reference standards that explicitly incorporate extended uncertainty, providing clinicians with more reliable diagnostic thresholds.

This work has established uncertainty-based reference data for median, ulnar, and lower extremity nerve conduction studies across Korean populations.
